Dear friends,

             Our idea when we decided to start this Club, was something very informal. We had no intention to teach anything, but just to have two hours dedicated to the English language.

            But since, there is a lot to be learned and everybody needs a fairly good knowledge of English, we have thought of discussing some grammar points at each meeting. That might at some occasions seem monotonous but believe me, it is the only way to achieve a good performance in a foreign language.

            It is necessary for each of us to study the points and to develop the exercises during the week, we must authomatize each of these simple patterns, so that our English as a whole will sound like English and trough that, make conversation much easier and deeper.

            Only hearing the sound of the language is not enough. One may stay in a foreign country, being forced to communicate in that language and never to achieve a decent knowledge of the art of well speaking.

            We are going to try to show what English is made of, it is rather simple and very interesting. After one starts feeling how the language works, one wants to know more and more about it.

            I have absolutely no intention to teach English, for my knowledge would not be enough for that. All I want is to share some of what I have learned in more than 18 years of love for this wonderful way of communicating.

            We are also going to develop some other activities such as reading, comprehension, writing techniques, accent training, and lots of free conversation. With all that, and a little effort of each one, I am sure our group will soon be able to get  the result so few really get to.
